This year we build a modern production facility for production young plants in Portugal.
To manage our young plant production at Florensis Portugal, we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic: Head of Young Plant Production — Result driven, enthusiastic, people manager. (Fulltime, located at Pegões, Portugal)
What do you do as a Head of Young Plant Production
The Head of Young Plant Production is responsible for all activities regarding the production of young plants at the production location in Pegões. Rooting young plants from Tissue Culture is our main production activity. All rooting of TC material takes place at this location. Together with the Head of Operations you take care that the operation runs efficiently and effectively. You are responsible for all cultivation activities make sure that Florensis delivers high quality young plants to its customers on time in the right quantities. You are steering a production team at an inspiring and motivated way. You are reporting to the General Manager of Florensis Portugal.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Responsible for all cultivation, operational and logistical activities in the rooting greenhouses.
- Motivating and coaching all employees concerned with production of young plants.
- Responsible for all operational and location planning activities in the greenhouse.
- You are maintaining close contacts with Supply Chain Planner regarding quality issues.
- You responsible for reaching agreed productivity targets.
- Ensure a reliable production with a high success rate on deliverable plants.
- You are responsible for all settings related to Young Plant Production in our climate computer.
- In close cooperation with research employees optimize crop protocols.
- Protocol development new products and improving cultivation recipes.
- Maintaining contact with other related departments within Florensis, especially with our Micro Propagation Area in Portugal.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in horticulture would be preferred or a related field;
- Proven experience of minimal 3 years in (young plant) plant production;
- Technical knowledge of cultivation processes (climate, fertilizer, crop protection);
- Knowledge of a Hoogendoorn climate computer is preferred;
- You have strong communication skills and are an integrative team player;
- You are able to motivate and coach staff and create a positive atmosphere;
- You are able to indicate clear goals and motivate others to reach those;
- You are quality minded;
- You have an excellent knowledge of English and preferred Portuguese language;What we offer:
