The renewal and extension of the agreement ensures regular donations of fresh food to more than 20,000 people in need in the province of Malaga.
One year after the initial agreement was signed, Montosa and Bancosol have met again to renew and extend their partnership. The Montosa team visited Bancosol’s premises, where Marta Sanjuan, Montosa’s managing director, and Diego Vázquez García, president of Bancosol, formalised the continuation of an agreement guaranteeing regular donations of avocados to thousands of vulnerable families in Málaga. Specifically, the company will donate 1,500 kg of avocados, thereby reinforcing its commitment to the organisation.
‘It was important for us to return: to renew our partnership, to see first-hand the work that Bancosol does, and to reaffirm that this kind of collaboration should be ongoing, not just a one-off. Our products are highly nutritious, which is why we believe it is important for them to be included in fresh food donations, so that people in need have access to products that are so valuable for their diet,’ says Marta Sanjuan.
A cold store that opens up new possibilities
The visit provided an opportunity to take a first-hand look at Bancosol’s new refrigerated storage facilities. This significant improvement now enables the food bank to maintain the cold chain from receipt right through to final distribution, thereby increasing both the volume of food and the range of fresh produce it handles.
“Renewing this agreement with Montosa is very good news for the families we support. Having a regular supply of their avocados allows us to improve the nutritional quality of the food parcels we distribute, and now, with the new facilities, we can do the same for Montosa’s fresh guacamole,” says Diego Vázquez García, president of Bancosol.
Commitment to the region
The renewal of this partnership forms part of a wider social action plan in the province. In addition to its collaboration with Bancosol, Montosa has already confirmed its participation in “Málaga no caduca”. This support network, launched by Málaga Provincial Council, aims to combat food waste and ensure access to quality products.
The leading Malaga-based tropical fruit company will contribute its fresh guacamole to this project, the details of which will be finalised shortly.
