On 8 December 2025, the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on the proposal for a regulation on forest reproductive material (FRM). The regulation aims to ensure the availability of sufficient and sustainable seeds, plants and parts of plants used for planting trees for purposes of multifunctional forestry, production of wood and conserving forest genetic resources. During the May 2026 plenary session, Parliament is expected to hold a second-reading vote on the agreed text, which the Council adopted on 21 April.
