After years of pressure from the EPP Group to ease the bureaucratic burden on farmers, we welcome the European Commission’s proposal to simplify the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
“Bureaucracy has already cost farmers too much time, energy and income. We are glad to see the Commission has taken action to relieve this pressure on farmers. This proposal is a step in the right direction. It aims to cut the red tape that has been binding farmers’ hands together and give them the support, legal certainty, and the flexibility to innovate,” says Herbert Dorfmann MEP, the EPP Group’s Spokesman for Agriculture.
While this proposal marks important progress, the EPP Group sees it as just the beginning. To support farmers and strengthen their position in the supply chain, a broader approach is needed. “We need further simplification, especially in the upcoming reform of CAP and Agriculture Omnibus proposal,” Dorfmann adds.
The EPP Group will continue to push for further simplification and smart, efficient rules that empower farmers, not hinder them.
“Our message is simple: cut the red tape, reduce the burden, and let farmers get on with their job. Simplify, simplify, simplify!” Dorfmann concludes.
