The EU-FarmBook Forum 2025 marks the public launch of the platform to all users. EU-FarmBook is a Horizon Europe project that has built a free, open-access online platform to collect and share agricultural and forestry knowledge across Europe. The event will take place in Brussels on 16 December from 18:00 to 19:30 CET. Journalists can participate online after registration.

Europe’s farms and forests are under pressure from global competition, climate change and generational challenges. Their competitiveness depends on how quickly effective solutions reach everyday practice. The EU-FarmBook platform ensures that practical tools, guidance materials, videos and research-based insights from EU-funded projects in agriculture, forestry and rural development are accessible to the practitioners and advisors who can apply them. This allows proven ideas to be shared, adapted and scaled across Europe. The Forum marks the public launch of this interactive, multilingual platform for all users.
EU-FarmBook in Practice: Moving Knowledge into Fields and Forests
The launch in Brussels will be publicly streamed live on 16 December at 18:00 CET.
Diego Canga Fano, Acting Deputy Director-General at DG AGRI, and Paul Webb, Head of the “Green Europe” Research Department at the European Research Executive Agency (REA), will officially open the event. Following the opening remarks, Professor Pieter Spanoghe of Ghent University will introduce EU-FarmBook with a presentation on how the platform and its key features bridge the gap between research and agricultural practice.
The event will include a panel discussion titled “Competitiveness Through Knowledge” from 18:30 to 19:25, bringing together key panelists:
- André Laperrière, Former Executive Director of Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN)
- Lauren Dietemann, Communications and Project Manager at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL)
- Margarida Tomé, Board Vice Chair at the European Forest Institute (EFI) and Professor at Instituto Superior de Agronomia
- Rūdolfs Pulkstenis, Vice President of the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA)
Main topics for the discussion will be, how stronger knowledge flows can boost competitiveness—exploring faster uptake through AKIS and CAP networks, how to measure real adoption and impact, how to ensure young farmers and foresters can benefit, and how to make cross-border scaling a normal practice. The evening will conclude at 19:30 with closing remarks by Marion Picot, Secretary General of CEJA. Peter Rakers, Strategic Coordinator of EU-FarmBook, will moderate the event. It will be held in English.
The organisers expect a high-level panel with senior policymakers, representatives of young farmers, researchers, and leading sector organisations such as IFOAM, EFI, EUFRAS, CEJA, Copa-Cogeca and Euragri CLG. Their participation highlights the strong support for the platform’s launch to all users, including practitioners and advisory services across Europe. The discussion will underline a shared commitment to improving knowledge flows in agriculture and forestry. The EU-FarmBook platform’s open-access design aims to make the sector more competitive and sustainable by enabling the uptake and exchange of proven solutions.
