We would like to invite you to the XL CIOSTA & CIGR Section V International Conference in Évora, Portugal.
After times of isolation due to the pandemic, this renowned International Conference will be held, in person, at the historic university of the wonderful city of Évora, a World Heritage Site and recently named European Capital of Culture 2027 (www.evora2027.com).
Subordinated to the theme “Sustainable Socio-Technical Transition of Farming Systems”, the Conference will be the ideal forum for sharing knowledge, discussion and generation of new ideas on the themes in which Agriculture, an essential activity for Humanity, is most directly involved in the nowadays. It will also offer the opportunity for colleagues who have not seen each other for some time, as well as to meet new colleagues, namely those at the beginning of their academic and research careers. Additionally, the Conference emphasizes a holistic and sustainable approach to design and improve systems and promotes cooperation among scientists, technicians, consultants and producers around the world.
The Conference will be hosted by the University of Évora (www.uevora.pt), the second university founded in Portugal in 1559, which offers a broad multidisciplinary education, research and training in all areas of knowledge. Agriculture is a strategic development area of UEvora. Here, through its Departments of Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, 3 bachelor’s and 6 master’s degrees are offered, in addition to a multi and transdisciplinary doctoral program in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. At the Campus Experimental of Mitra it is possible to find the MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (www.med.uevora.pt) which is the largest research center installed in Portuguese universities.
It will also be the opportunity to get to know the city of Évora and its surrounding region, Alentejo, which is one of the most important agricultural regions of the Iberian Peninsula.
