US not inspecting all Brazilian beef, union official claims

USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) union official Stan Painter and Food & Water Watch Senior Lobbyist Tony Corbo say FSIS is not performing 100% inspections of Brazil’s thermally processed beef, despite the agency’s pledge to inspect all imported meat products from Brazil in light of the bribery scandal.

FSIS inspectors have been instructed not toperform 100% checks on thermally processed beef from Brazil, and the agency isnot testing for drug residues in all cases, they charge.
