Next week could potentially see progress towards a long-awaited deal on proposed new rules for the EU’s organic sector, though agreement in ‘trilogue’ talks between the EU institutions is far from a certainty.

A 17th round of negotiations between the European Council, Parliament andCommission will be held on Wednesday (May 31), provided member states can agreea negotiating mandate at a Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA) meeting twodays prior (May 29). A
